Betty Grable was one of my favorite screen stars. I saw and enjoyed all herpictures. The book was well written and I was glad I got it. Only regret is
her dying at such an early age in such an awful way. She deserved better
for all the joy she brought to the public.
(Another background story of how a stage mother pushed her female child into
show business ie: Judy Garland, Gypsy Rose Lee, June Haver and now Betty Grable too!

Good book, easy read. A classy lady who was a lot more grounded than most stars were.
Good bio, wanted to read about Betty Grable. This book was satisfying. She never seemed to achieve the happiness she was hoping for. She sure gave a lot to a lot of people!
Loved reading about Betty Grable. No one has the perfect life we think they do. You always learn some things u didn't know about people when reading books about them. She was a good person & I always enjoy watching her movies.
A glamorous, talented woman who was addicted to alcohol, smoking, and sadly gambling who had a driving "stage mother" to dominate her early years, hence having no sense of self and appreciation for others other than using them as a means to herself.
Some details I didn't know, but most things have been written about in other places. Once again
shocking how the old Hollywood system worked. Would have really liked to see some old pictures
from the movies or personal about her and her family. Not sure why some weren't included. Some
must be public at least. Did this on , but that shouldn't matter. Enjoyed the read.
A very well written biography by an author who is kind to Grable's memory but not blind to the less admirable traits that make all of us human. Grable does indeed emerge as the most unusual of the famous stars of the Hollywood glamour era both a victim of and a triumph for her mother's ambitions for her but still aware of ordinary people and their foibles.Grable for all her "star" faults survived better than most of the glamour girls largely it seems because of a sense of proportion and a sense of humour. Really enjoyed this and over the years I have read a lot of these sort of books
I bought this book under the impression it was a new publication. As I progressed through it, the feeling grew that I'd read it all before under another title some years ago. This feeling was strengthened by the fact that long-dead people like Lucille Ball were quoted in the present tense as if they were speaking now. And at the end, after Betty's death, there was a catch-up on her two former husbands, Jackie Coogan and Harry James, giving details about their 'current' lives, irrespective of the fact that they'd both died in 1984. Whether my suspicions are valid or not, I feel it should be mandatory that a book's publishing history should be stated in full, and not just the date of the reprint. Certainly, there was nothing new in this one.
